Textiles Select: compression and tops

A winger who dives into the zone often falls onto their hip: it's for this moment that the textile Select offers padded compression shorts, alongside its jerseys and team socks.

The Danish brand, known to handball players for its balls, also outfits the body: compression, thermal, goalkeeper and referee kits, in adult and junior sizes.

Hips, thighs, coccyx: where the pads absorb falls

The 6421 compression shorts incorporate padding at the hips, on the thighs, and at the coccyx. They are worn under the match shorts and absorb impacts on the ground, defensive contacts, and goalkeeper dives. The 6407, without padding, maintains muscle support for those who only want compression. IHF rules accept these short under-shorts if they match the dominant colour of the shorts or if they are black.

Arm and thermal shorts: keeping muscles warm

The 6610 arm sleeve comes in black, white, blue, and red, while the 6150 leg sleeve is available in black. During matches, an arm sleeve must match the dominant colour of the jersey, or be a similar colour; the leg sleeve matches the colour of the socks. Thermal shorts, available in black and green, white, or blue, keep the thighs warm during breaks and at the end of games in a cold hall.

Graffiti, Fire, Solar: printed jerseys

The Graffiti jerseys, in white and blue or white and pink, are available for adults and children. The Fire features black, while the Player Solar is bright orange. These are patterned jerseys, made for a team that wants to stand out, or for training when everyone comes in their own kit. A women's jersey in the LFH colours, navy and white, completes the range.

Navy and white or black and pink: the Basic sock in two colours

The Basic sock combines two colours: navy and white, white and royal blue, white and red, black and orange, black and pink, white and purple, navy and pink. This range of colours allows teams to align with their club's colours without special production. Like all match socks, they must be identical in colour for the entire team. Plain designs in white or black are available for more understated clubs.

LNH, LFH, goalkeepers and referees: separate outfits

This section includes items in the colours of the LNH and LFH. The Goalkeeper and Referee lines gather the outfits of those who do not play in the team's colours: the goalkeeper wears a colour that distinguishes them from players on the field from both teams, and the referee must also set themselves apart from both sides. A shell completes the protection kit.

From ball to textile: the Danish heritage of Select

Select was founded in Denmark by Eigil Nielsen, goalkeeper for the Danish national football team, who designed its first balls while still playing. The brand made a name for itself in handball through its balls and then expanded its expertise to player clothing. Its textiles follow a functional logic: little flair, lots of compression, and pieces designed for impact.

Select Compression: finding the right size

A compression short or sleeve should be snug without cutting off circulation or leaving marks on the skin. Measure your thigh or arm circumference and compare it to the size chart. If you fall between two sizes, the smaller size provides more support while the larger prioritises comfort for longer sessions. Junior versions are available for some jerseys, shorts, and socks.

Frequently asked questions

Is a padded short useful for a field player?

Yes, especially for wingers and pivots, who often fall on the hip after a shot. The pads absorb some of the impact and limit bruising. Backs, who fall less often, usually settle for a compression short without padding.

Can you wear a short in a different colour than the shorts?

In matches, only if it is black: the IHF rules accept black under any shorts. Otherwise, it must match the dominant colour of the shorts, and all players on the team must wear the same colour. Federations may relax the rule for lower levels.

How do you wash a compression short with pads?

Wash it inside out, at a low temperature, in a mesh bag if possible. No fabric softener, as it damages elastane, and no tumble dryer, as it distorts the padding. Let it dry flat, in the open air.

What’s the difference between a compression sleeve and a knee pad?

The sleeve compresses the muscle and protects the skin from rubbing, without padding or very little. The knee pad absorbs impacts on the joint thanks to thicker foam. The rules allow knee pads in all colours, whereas sleeves must match the colour of the jersey or socks.

Is a thermal short worn in matches?

Yes, if its colour complies with the under-short rule: either the colour of the shorts or black. It keeps muscles warm when the hall is cold or when you sit on the bench for long periods. A longer version can also be worn by a field player, but only in black or the colour of the shorts; the goalkeeper, however, can choose any colour they want.
