Gel Max: the boil-and-bite mouthguard
The Gel Max is the flagship model from Shock Doctor. It combines three layers, including a gel lining for comfort and a reinforced frame that absorbs shocks, with channels for breathing. It molds in hot water: dipped in hot water as per the instructions, cooled for a moment, then bitten to form around the teeth. It comes in several colours, with or without a strap.
Braces and Double Braces: for teeth with braces
The Gel Max is not compatible with braces. The Braces and Double Braces models are designed for that: made from medical-grade silicone, they don’t need boiling and adapt to the brackets, even as the teeth shift during treatment. They are available in adult and junior sizes.
The BioFlex shell and its support
The BioFlex shell has an ergonomic shape that allows air circulation, with gel edges for comfort. It comes in junior sizes for younger players and in adult sizes, either alone or with its support. The goalkeeper, who is exposed to close-range shots, is the primary concern.

Is a mouthguard mandatory in handball?
The rules of handball do not require it. It is still recommended for pivots and defenders, who take the most face contacts.
What to do if the Gel Max molding fails?
The manufacturer indicates that you can redo the process. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the time in hot water, as an overly heated mouthguard can warp.
What mouthguard for a child with braces?
The Braces comes in junior size and requires no boiling. It fits the brackets and remains comfortable throughout the treatment.
How to maintain a mouthguard?
Rinse it with cold water after each use, brush it gently, and store it in its ventilated case. Avoid boiling water after molding and do not leave it in direct sunlight.
What size shell for a young goalkeeper?
The BioFlex comes in age ranges: under seven years, under nine years, from ten to fourteen years, then in adult sizes. Choose according to the child's age and body shape.
