Seven o'clock in the morning, light rain and ten degrees: this is where running clothing makes the difference, between a tough run and an outing you want to do again.
T-shirts, vests, shorts, leggings, waterproof jackets, sweats and socks: the page dresses up running for men, women and juniors.
In cold weather, you dress in layers. The first layer, close to the skin, wicks away sweat: technical shirt or t-shirt. The second layer, a sweatshirt or long-sleeved top, retains heat. The third layer, a windbreaker or waterproof jacket, protects against wind and rain. In summer, the first layer is enough, along with lightweight shorts.
Shorts are the choice for nice days and interval training. Leggings cover you in winter and protect against chafing. Compression shorts, shorter and tighter, prevent your thighs from rubbing on long distances. Many runners combine compression shorts under loose-fitting shorts.
Each brand has its own page. The page running apparel adidas brings together Adizero, adi365, and Essentials shirts, shorts, and jackets. The page running apparel Mizuno offers waterproof jackets, shorts, and leggings. The page running apparel Craft gathers outfits from the Swedish brand. A reference is also available at Under Armour.
To complete your outfit, the page running shoes gathers models for jogs and intervals. The running socks prevent blisters, and the running accessories include watches, caps, and belts. The belts, water bottles, and watches also have their own pages.
To dress without overspending, check out the textile clearance page and the special offers for physical maintenance. During peak times, the Black Friday textile and then the textile sales take over.
Many runners switch to leggings when it’s cool, around ten degrees. It’s mostly about how it feels: if your legs are cold, cover them up.
A polyester handball jersey works fine for a jog. Running jerseys are often lighter and better ventilated, with seams designed to reduce chafing over time.
A bright or fluorescent colour makes you visible to cars and cyclists, especially in the morning and evening. Add reflective elements if you’re running at night.
Wash it soon after wearing, inside out and at a low temperature, without fabric softener. Don’t leave it damp at the bottom of a bag. A rinse with white vinegar helps from time to time.
The windproof jacket is more breathable, ideal for dry and windy weather. The waterproof jacket protects from rain but breathes a bit less. If you run in all kinds of weather, a lightweight waterproof jacket is the most versatile.
