Handball clothing for men, women, juniors

Shirts, shorts, socks, sweatshirts and tracksuits: handball clothing supports the player from warm-up to the last 7-metre throw, and this page sorts it by audience and position.

Goalkeepers and referees have their own collections, with designs and colours tailored to the rules. Choose yours, then refine by size, fit and club colour.

Textile handball for matches: shirt, shorts and socks

The match kit consists of three pieces, each with its own rule. The shirt has a number from 1 to 99, at least 20 cm high at the back and 10 cm on the chest, in a colour that contrasts with the fabric. The shorts reflect the team's colours. The socks must be the same colour for all team players. The goalkeeper can wear long trousers in any colour, while a field player is limited to wearing long underwear in the colour of the shorts, or black.

Cut of handball textile: why the shirt fits close to the body

In handball, you grip, block, and fight for your place at the pivot. A fitted cut leaves less fabric to grab and doesn't float during arm movements. Most of the shirts and shorts on the page are made of lightweight technical polyester, which dries quickly. For shorts, look for an elastic waistband with a drawstring and a cut that allows the thigh to move freely for supports, jumps, and dives from the winger.

Men, women, juniors: three cuts for handball textile

The cuts are not interchangeable. The men's textile page features shirts and shorts with wider shoulders and more generous lengths. The women's textile page offers fitted shirts, shorter shorts, sports bras, and leggings. For juniors, the junior textile page includes children's sizes, often given by age or height: refer to the size guide on the product sheet instead of age alone.

Socks, goalkeepers, referees: the separate families

Some items have their own logic. Handball socks are chosen by height, thickness, and grip, in pairs or in bulk for the team. The goalkeepers page brings together shirts, trousers, and sweats in colours that must stand out from the field players of both teams and the opposing goalkeeper. The referees page outfits the officiating team, from vibrant-coloured shirts to black shorts. For the rest of the wardrobe, the clothing page covers sweats, jackets, and training pants.

Hummel, Kempa, Select, adidas: who outfits handball

A few brands dominate handball textiles. Hummel, founded in Hamburg and now based in Denmark, gets its name from the German word for bumblebee; its team line hmlAUTHENTIC is the most extensive on its page. Kempa, the handball brand from the Uhlsport group, takes its name from Bernhard Kempa and offers its Emotion and Core ranges for an entire club. Select, known for its balls, also outfits players with its Basic shorts and socks. adidas sponsors the French team and offers clubs its Tiro and Entrada ranges. Mizuno is a textile partner of the LNH. Errea, an Italian brand from Parma, focuses on very colourful club shirts. Each brand has its page in the handball textile brands section.

Pre-match textile: tracksuits and sweats

In a cold gym, warming up starts in a jacket. A team tracksuit keeps the muscles warm until kick-off and gives the group a unified look on the bench. A zip-up jacket can be quickly removed when entering the game, while a hoodie is more for the journey and recovery. Waterproof jackets and puffer coats take over for outdoor tournaments and weekends by the pitch.

Affordable handball textile: where to start

To equip a team without blowing the budget, start with the special offers textile page. The clearance textile page gathers end-of-line items, great for completing an existing kit. During major events, check out the Black Friday textile, followed by the textile sales. And to see what other players are choosing, the best sellers page sorts it out for you.

Frequently asked questions

How to wash a printed handball shirt?

Turn it inside out before putting it in the machine and wash it at a low temperature, without fabric softener, which clogs the technical fibres. Avoid the tumble dryer: heat damages the printed numbers and names. Let it dry flat or on a hanger, out of direct sunlight.

What colour of under-shorts should you wear under handball shorts?

The IHF regulations require under-shorts in the dominant colour of the shorts, with an exception for black. The same logic applies on top: an under-shirt or long sleeves should match the dominant colour of the shirt. So check your club colours before buying.

Can football shorts be used for handball?

In training, yes, as long as they allow you to move freely. Handball shorts are often shorter and more flexible for supports and dives. In matches, you will be wearing your team's shorts anyway.

How to choose the size of a handball shirt for a child?

Measure their height and compare it to the size guide on the product sheet, which is more reliable than age. A shirt that is too big can hinder shooting and is easy for a defender to grab. If the child is between two sizes, the larger size allows for some growth over the year.

What outfit should the coach wear on the bench?

Officials in the substitution area must wear either sportswear or full civilian clothing. Colours that could be confused with those of the opposing field players are not allowed. A clubs tracksuit solves this issue, provided it does not resemble the opponent's shirt.
