Autumn drizzle, recovery jog by the canal, intervals on the track: it's under these conditions that the running apparel Mizuno proves its worth, with jackets that block the rain and shorts designed for putting in the miles.
The Japanese brand outfits both men and women, from three-quarter leggings to summer vests, with a few junior pieces rounding out the selection. Everything you need to keep your cardio up outside the gym.
The RB waterproof jacket leads the way, available in black, neon yellow or royal blue. Lightweight, it slips into a bag and comes out as soon as the rain starts. The 20K hooded jacket, in black or midnight blue, protects the head when the rain sets in. For female runners, the Tech Thermal Charge Breath Thermo jacket, in black or plum, is aimed more at winter outings, when the chill bites as much as the rain.
Shorts are the largest family. The Core short comes in a simple version and a 2-in-1 version, with an integrated inner short that reduces chafing on long runs. The multi-pocket shorts, including those from the Active line, keep keys, gels or phones within easy reach. The MZNRB Split shorts, split on the sides, leave the legs free for speed sessions, available in black, navy, red or royal blue.
For women, the MZNRB leggings are available in long and three-quarter lengths, in black or navy. The long model protects the legs when the temperature drops. The three-quarter one is suitable for transitional seasons and strengthening sessions. Women's tank tops and t-shirts complete the outfit, featuring fitted cuts that don’t flap during exercise.
When running, dress as if the temperature is a few degrees warmer: the body heats up quickly. In summer, a tank top or technical t-shirt is enough. In transitional seasons, add a lightweight jacket that you can tie around your waist. In winter, combine a long-sleeved top, a jacket and a beanie, and switch to long leggings. The premium JPN Warmer sweatshirt is great for warming up and cooling down.
A handball player doesn’t stop running at the end of the season. Jogging maintains fitness during holidays, while interval training prepares defensive positions and counter-attacks for the return. A dedicated running outfit prevents wear on club kit on the pavement, and it dries faster than an old cotton t-shirt.
Founded in Osaka, Mizuno is involved in running and handball, and it is the textile partner of the LNH. Its running line follows the same approach as its indoor textiles: technical materials, simple cuts, and bold colours. To compare with other brands, check out the running textile adidas or the running textile Craft, or return to all the running textile.
Discounts on physical preparation can be found in the special offers for physical preparation. At the end of autumn, the Black Friday textile takes over, followed by the textile sales. Clearance items go through the textile clearance.
Wash it cold or at low temperature, with zippers closed and pockets emptied, without fabric softener which clogs the fibres. Avoid the tumble dryer and ironing. Let it dry naturally, on a hanger.
Compare your chest and waist measurements with the product sheet guide. A running top should fit close to the body without being tight. If in doubt, a size up allows room for a layer underneath in winter.
Cotton absorbs sweat and holds onto it: the t-shirt becomes heavy, cold and irritates the skin. Technical textiles wick moisture away and dry quickly. The difference is especially noticeable on long runs.
Choose a light or neon piece, like the RB jacket in neon yellow, and add a headlamp or a light armband. Run facing traffic on a road without a pavement. Dark colours disappear quickly in headlights.
The long legging protects against cold and wind, making it essential in winter. The three-quarter version allows calves to breathe in transitional seasons. Many female runners keep both for all year round.
