Maillot CopaFor Nottingham Forest, the 1960s were a decade of consistency that saw the club firmly establish itself among the elite for the first time since the start of the century. The high point of this decade, and indeed the greatest moment in Forest’s history before the Clough years, came in 1967. This miraculous season saw Forest finish second in Division One behind Manchester United and reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
The unpretentious defender Terry Hennessey perfectly embodied a well-organised, hard-working team that was tough to beat, rather than a side filled with big-name stars. However, former Torino and Arsenal striker Joe Baker brought a touch of glamour to the front, alongside top scorer Ian Storey Moore in an effective duo. Forest's FA Cup ambitions came to an end in Sheffield, at Hillsborough, after a defeat to Tottenham.
